Portrait photography – Inspired by Comics
Nowadays, you will find a wide range of comics with outstanding graphic quality. The cartoonists create heroes that impress with fine or extreme facial expressions, gestures and postures. This is exactly what our workshop focusses on: Interpreting the repertoire of comics, using photography, and turning it into something totally individual. We concentrate on the hyper-explicit presentation and the fine facial expressions, showing the portrayed characters in communication. Even the thoughtful hero can be especially charming with his inner monologue. In close cooperation with a model we will chose from a wide range of facial expressions and poses, including emotions like thoughtfulness, happiness, astonishment, determination and extreme confidence. An important element to enhance emotions is lighting, which is also masterly used in many comics.
The cosplayers Sephira and Eressea Sama could be booked for this workshop. As Loki and Frigga, they embody the famous protagonists from well-known Marvel movies. See Instagram.com/sephira_nezach and Instagram.com/eresseasama !
We will work on developing our own style and pay special attention to the processing of the pictures in order to guarantee a particularly emotive presentation. You will also learn how to create a sequence of images.
